Mobile technology is here to stay and professional writers, coaches, consultants and even brick and mortar companies can generate a highly effective and profitable income using a well thought out mobile marketing campaign. Even more importantly you will have the ability to receive nearly instant responses all using the convenience of this new and exciting communication medium.
So what are some examples of a Mobile Marketing Campaign?
> Keywords - Lets say someone wants to stay in touch with you via SMS then you just need to set up a keyword to be texted to a short-code (4 0r 5 numbers) and after they text you with that number their mobile phone number would automatically be added to your database/opt-in contacts.
> Text Alerts - Create text alerts can provide you with automated alerts to customers who text in with a keyword to you at a time you decide fore example. Whether your a coach, consultant or a fitness gym that wants to provide special discounts or event alerts, bad weather or maybe your a martial arts team that wants to provide the up to the minute competition results.

Again your options for creating comparison voting campaigns is really limited only by your imagination.
> Contests - Thats right you can actually create highly popular competitions, remember everyone likes a winner. Just set up a prize and have the contestants use a keyword to optin and then just pick a random winner. Or you could award the first on to send a message after they see your twitter message that alerts them to send the message (the twitter message may be an advertisement for a new product) and the first to send a SMS wins a free copy.
> Survey - Just setup a couple of keyword numbers and announce the options to your facebook followers for example. Than just tabulate the results. You could even put up a poster at your deli and ask your customers to participate as they wait for their order to be completed.
As you can see this can be extremely powerful to virtually any professional looking to profit from a mobile marketing campaign.

How Small Businesses Can Use Mobile Marketing To Increase Revenue

Great article I found on ezince artiles by: YK Hu
With the advent of mobile phones, people tend to be used to having received and sent information in just a few minutes. Having this tool on hand, people have already utilized it as a marketing strategy and it has become more common in this generation. What is really meant by mobile marketing? As others described it in a simple way, it is marketing through the use of mobile devices. One best example of that is cellphones. Almost all people all over the world have cellphones so access to it is very easy. This kind of medium is utilized as a way of marketing communication, such as informing the people about a promotion or it could be advertising a new product.
Have you ever wonder why Short Message Service (SMS) marketing has been widely popular in Europe and Asia? Why do entrepreneurs prefer to use it? The main reason of this is due to the fact that it is cheap and effective since a large number of SMS can be sent to a number of recipients and in a matter of a few minutes these people can already respond to the advertisement or announcement. In this way, the company has already saved cost because they have already sent the desired message to their target market. There are a lot of ways wherein this marketing strategy is used. One example is building a relationship between the mobile users to the company since the customers can register to the advertising company so as they can be contacted and can receive regular message from the advertisers regarding any new announcements and promotions. This is a win-win relationship because both parties are benefited.
However, despite the benefits it provides to many people, others still have a negative feedback on it. Although almost all people use mobile phones some of them don't like to receive promotional messages from advertising companies for they have the notion that their phone is something very personal. Also, businesses find SMS marketing non-appealing because of the problems encountered from the opt-in SMS lists.
Aside from SMS Marketing, there are still other streams of mobile marketing. A multimedia message service (MMS) marketing is also used which is more advanced than SMS because its content can include images and sounds. Still, it is similar to SMS marketing. Other streams include Bluetooth marketing which sends messages through Bluetooth wireless technology. You also have what you call infrared marketing which transmit announcements and advertisements through infrared.
QR Codes and Mobile Marketing
Patrice Barber - Thursday, May 19, 2011
QR codes are a new, mobile marketing technology that is quickly gaining in popularity and with good reason. Their potential is limitless. Today, it would be difficult to find someone who doesn’t own a cell phone. Most cell phone owners keep them close at hand, taking them with them wherever they go. Savvy companies are taking advantage of this, reaching out to both prospective and actual customers, via their mobile phones. They are one of the many methods companies are using to do so.
For those unaware of what a QR (Quick Response) Code is, it is a 2-D visual code that can be read by QR scanners, cell phones with cameras and Smartphones. QR codes can be encoded with all types of information, including, text, phone numbers and URLs.
When individuals come across a Quick Response code, they can scan it with their phone and instantly be taken to whatever website a company has encoded the QR code to. An increasing number of companies are utilizing these codes and with great success. They are a unique form of advertising which is cutting-edge and taking off in a big way. QR codes connect online and offline media in a way that has never been done before. Now individuals are able to go from offline to online adverts or web pages with a quick and easy scan of their phone.
Quick Response codes have taken off for a variety of reasons, one of the primary being that consumers seem to be responding to them. They are a bit mysterious. The codes are black and white modules in a square pattern. There is no definite rhyme or reason to them, at least visually. It is only after scanning the code, that individual can determine what message the company is relaying.
QRs are akin to a live website link or URL. Until now, the only way a person could go directly to a website with a simple click was if they were online. Now, this can be done even when the link is not online. QR codes are embedded with URL links and functionally, act as such. Individuals are automatically transferred to whatever URL the QR Code is embedded with when they use their mobile phone to scan the code.
Companies committed to staying abreast of the latest technologies and then using them to maintain and grow their business should look into QR codes. They are one of the latest technological developments available to businesses interested in entering the enormous and potentially lucrative, mobile phone market.

How To Use Foursquare For Businesses
Patrice Barber - Wednesday, April 27, 2011
Foursquare is a new location-based app that lets customers check-in to locations and access free rewards or deals. This presents a substantial mobile marketing opportunity for owners and social media markets to use Foursquare for business. How can you use Foursquare for business?
Foursquare is a cornerstone of any location based marketing strategy. As the market leader in location-based services and the platform with the widest user base Foursquare should be the focus of any mobile marketing or social media marketing campaign for small businesses.
Crunchbase describes Foursquare as: "Foursquare is a location based social network that incorporates gaming elements. Users share their location with friends by "checking in" via a smartphone app or by text message. Points are awarded for checking in at various venues... In addition, users who have checked in the most times at a certain venue will be crowned "Mayor" until someone surpasses their number. Various venues have embraced Foursquare, and offer special deals to users who are "mayors"."
Here is a quick guide for using Foursquare for businesses as part of your location based marketing strategy:
Set up your Foursquare campaign - go to http://www.Foursquare.com and set your campaign up. You need to register, find your venue, and register. Once you are registered you can get your campaign rolling.
Start running specials - start running specials and deals to reward your mayor and your loyal customers - use Foursquare to acquire customers and get them into your store.
Get more customers involved - get your customers on board - tell them about your deals and get them on Foursquare - the more customers you have on board, the more you can use the platform in the future to market your deals.
Track your results - use Foursquare's built-in functionality to track your results and see what's working, learn from your mistakes, and build a better campaign.
This simple strategy can make Foursquare a cornerstone of your marketing strategy. The best part about using Foursquare is that the only cost you incur is the cost of the deal itself - the software and functionality are free to use for small businesses - this is a tremendous marketing opportunity.

Easy ways to stay in touch ONLINE
Patrice Barber - Wednesday, April 13, 2011
We all run short of ideas about what to talk about and how to help our sphere of influence. Keep this list handy to keep fresh ideas flowing and prevent your writers block.
- Reuse and Repurpose: If you already created some popular content, see where you can expand it or possibly target a certain aspect of it in finer detail.
- FAQ: Ask your followers and clients what their top questions are at several stages of working with you. Focus on Before, During, After - Before they chose you , what were their reasons for hesitation, after they got started were there areas of confusion that you need to address or change and help new clients be aware of, when complete what did they expect to happen next. There's gold in the questions and answers you hear over and over again.
- Be the news: Set up your RSS feeds or alerts to get the specific type of news that you report out on sent directly to you. Pay attention to what's happening in your area of expertise in the news and many times you'll find something that ties in perfectly to your audience's interests. For example, if your target market is counseling teens, stories that describe successful teens or stories that warn of various online dangers is a potential subject to share and comment on. If you have a coaching business for other business owners, sharing ways to get financing, tax breaks for business owners and other related topics will be appreciated. Even if that is not your main focus – sharing related tips is great.
- Give Product Reviews: When you come across tools or other products that help you. Share it. People always appreciate someone else’s research and honest product reviews. Include who is best suited to use the tool or product and the features and benefits you experienced. If there were things you didn’t like or thought it should have provided, include that too. Integrity is key.
- Share Case studies about Your Clients / Customers: Case studies are an excellent way to provide highly-informative success stories and they become amazing testimonials for your business.
- Interview other Experts / Celebrities in your Market: Your local celebrities and you interviewing or being interviewed by the experts in your field shows that you know the right people and you know them well. Implied in the celebrity factor is that you must be a celebrity or close to it if you are connected to other celebrities. This is the beginnings of a great PR campaign for online and offline PR.
- Have Someone Interview You: This is an excellent way to create content using the audio and transcript of your interview. Create great social media buzz by having your own followers submit questions for the interview.
- Have fun : A top reason face book has replaced the porn sites as most viewed site and why You Tube is about to take over Face book is that people are BORED. They seek information but also entertainment. You don't always have to come up with earth-shattering information to impress your audience. Have fun, inspire them or make them laugh. Share your personal side (not too personal mind youJ)

7 Tips for Getting Started with Mobile Marketing
Patrice Barber - Saturday, February 26, 2011
If you are just getting started with mobile marketing in your business,
you might find these tips helpful.
1 - Start with texting - Many of our clients have started with an email marketing campaign first and from there it is an easy step to add on a text message campaign with a free offer. Once this the free offer is understood, the ease of using a text message campaign becomes obvious.
2 - Know the law - There are some basic requirements and regulations to be aware of.
Without these in place you could get in trouble and have your campaign shut down.
To get some ideas you may read the Mobile Marketing Association’s Best Practices document as a starting point.
Most of our clients prefer that we manage the campaign to get it setup correctly and just show the monthly reports so you can see the success. It will help to look around for examples of mobile marketing in action.
3 - Try it - See what other businesses are doing with mobile. It will also get your ideas flowing about what you can do with your business. Subscribe to as many text message campaigns as you can find. Use the mobile web frequently. The more familiar you are with the technology the quicker you will be able to adapt
(before your competition does).
4 - Get a plan - If you don’t already have an unlimited data plan – get one now.
* * * * * * * * *
6 - The offer - Start determining what you want to offer to your customers using a text messaging campaign and on your mobile website development. You will find that your business type will flow best around a certain type of mobile marketing. Make a list of your clients and brainstorm what you’d offer them.
7 - Presenting the offer and tracking - Decide how you will present the offer so they can choose to opt in to get the goodies. There might be a little training of your staff to help them understand how to present the new offer and how to receive the coupon or other ways to redeem the offer. Be sure to track your redemption with an automated system so you know the results. For paper coupons most of our clients have a redemption rate of 1-2%.
With a company to help you manage mobile marketing it jumps to 14-15% and as high as 30-40% for some industries.
Good luck with mobile marketing in your business. Please post your comments to let me know what you’re doing and how I can help.
